Small Steps, Big Dreams: A Path to Living Your Passion

A lot of us have dreams, but they often stay as dreams. We tell ourselves "It's too hard," "It's too late," or "It's too risky." I used to be in that place too, longing to create a fashion brand but struggling with doubts about the possibility and fearing the risks involved. I had plenty of reasons to doubt my ability, as I had no experience in fashion design, no industry connections, and no business background.

In addition to my lack of experience, almost none of my friends were pursuing similar dreams, and I didn’t want to feel like an outsider. I also dedicated most of my time and energy to my job. It seemed like a valid excuse for not pursuing my dreams, but I've since realised that when you're truly passionate about something, finding time and energy becomes possible.

What changed my perspective and allowed me to start living my passion was a mixture of inspiration and the wisdom of others. A former colleague of mine sparked a fire within me, as I shared with you a few months ago. Another turning point was reading Richard Branson's book, "Screw It, Let's Do It." It is not just a book; it's a motto. His adventurous spirit, quick decision-making, and commitment to taking action were truly inspiring.

Taking action is the essential step toward living your passions, regardless of how small those steps may be. In my journey to build my fashion brand, I chose to take smaller, deliberate steps, setting myself apart from the stereotype of entrepreneurs working around the clock. I had a crucial reason for this: my family. I chose to spend more time with them, and I wanted to prove that success could come without sacrificing what truly matters.

I began by taking the smallest of actions - brainstorming the brand name and contemplating the design and color of the logo. It might seem insignificant, but every step brought me closer to my dream. Simply purchasing a domain website was also a tangible step forward, and each of these small actions was a cause for celebration.

You might have heard about the compound effect - small actions can lead to huge results over time. I started planning for my brand back in 2021, and it was these small daily actions that paved the way for what I have today.

For all of you who dream, please remember that every journey begins with that first step, no matter how small. Have the courage to challenge your doubts and fears. You have the power to shape your destiny, and your dreams deserve to be more than just dreams. Take action, however tiny, and watch your passions transform into reality.

"The best lesson I learned was to just do it. It doesn't matter what it is, or how hard it might seem, as the ancient Greek, Plato said, 'The beginning is the most important part of any work.' A journey of a thousand miles starts with that first step." — Richard Branson, "Screw It, Let's Do It"
